Spelman Student Scholarships
The Northern Virginia Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NoVA NAASC) annually awards non-renewable monetary awards for Spelman College Students from the Northern Virginia area. There are two categories of awards: one for new/incoming students, another for continuing students.
Since this scholarship is not automatically renewable, applicants are encouraged to apply to the NoVA NAASC Student Scholarship every year.
Eligibility Requirements
- Only applicant(s) from the following Northern Virginia areas are eligible to apply:
- Arlington County
- City of Alexandria
- City of Manassas
- City of Manassas Park
- Fairfax County
- Loudoun County
- Prince William County
- Applicant(s) must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above to apply.
- Applicant(s) must submit a copy of their (unofficial accepted) transcript (final transcript if first-year student) with each application.
- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
- Applicant(s) must submit a photograph with their application.
Award Details
Applicant(s) will be notified, via e-mail, once the review has been completed, on the status of their application. If selected for a scholarship, be advised that your photo and likeness will be utilized on NoVA NAASC’s social media platforms to amplify our scholarship program.
NoVA NAASC disburses scholarship monies directly to Spelman College. Please note that Spelman College has a scholarship displacement policy in place that allows them to use external scholarships to first reduce the student or parent’s financial contribution before applying the institution’s own aid. The NoVA NAASC Scholarship Committee has no involvement or control over Spelman’s Financial Aid Office policies.
